Sleeping Bag: A sleeping bag is essential for keeping you warm and comfortable while you sleep. Choose a sleeping bag that is rated for the temperature you’ll be camping in and is made of lightweight materials.

 

Sleeping Pad: A sleeping pad provides extra cushioning and insulation from the cold ground. Choose a sleeping pad that is lightweight and easy to pack.

 

Flashlight: A flashlight is essential for navigating your campsite in the dark. Choose a flashlight that is bright, portable and has a long battery life. Bonus points if you bring a lantern to light up your campsite so your hands are free while you cook and move around at night.

Water Bottle: A water bottle is essential for staying hydrated while camping. Choose a water bottle that is durable and has a wide mouth for easy filling.

Making Fire: wood, lighter fluid, newspaper, lighter, etc. Be sure to double check you are allowed to light a fire where you are camping! 

 

Clothing: Make sure to pack the right clothing for the weather you’ll be camping in. Choose lightweight and breathable fabrics that will keep you comfortable. Check the weather and prepare for a chilly night, even in the summers!

 

Food: Pack enough food for the duration of your camping trip. Choose non-perishable items that are easy to prepare and store. (especially s'mores)

 

Toiletries: Pack basic toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap. Makeup wipes, deodorant, and a hairbrush do a lot to help you feel refreshed after another day of no showers

 

Pack it in, Pack it out: Don’t forget to pack some trash bags, paper towels, scissors, and other things you might need to clean up your campsite and keep things tidy. One thing we always recommend is bringing a sponge for cleaning up cooking utensils and the stove after use!
